These boat races are held in Punnamada backwaters in Alapuzha and are known for it exuberant energy, team spirit along with the mixture of music that is vanchipaatu (snake boat song) and festivity.

Aries Chundan, in this occasion was successfully set to sail with about 107 women and a couple of other helmsmen. The 144ft long Aries Punnamada Chundan posed to be a challenge with its traditional yet scientifically inclined features and stood exceptional with its speed and stability.
